Portraits at home...
The morning is the part of the day people remember least clearly, because it’s all such a rush. I arrive early—before the makeup is done—and stay in the background: the dress hanging by the window, the shoes still in their box, the mother busy and full of emotion. A successful portrait doesn’t require smiling on command. I look for a window, a wall that reflects the light, and ten quiet minutes; the bride and groom take care of the rest, once they stop thinking about the camera.
